Individuals of British-Chinese descent are concerned that they will endure long-lasting consequences following racist incidents during the COVID-19 pandemic, as highlighted by an expert’s warning.
Binna Kandola, an author and business psychologist, conducted 30 extensive interviews with individuals of East-Asian heritage in the UK. These revealed disturbing accounts of people being subjected to profanity, racial slurs, and demands to “go back to China,” as well as having their face coverings forcibly removed by strangers.
According to Professor Kandola, many individuals who have faced this increasing wave of abuse have subsequently retreated from society, experiencing feelings of isolation. It may take a substantial amount of time for them to regain a sense of complete safety and security.
