Norma started at Pearn Kandola in December 2021. She has a degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Occupational Psychology both from the University of Hertfordshire, where she conducted research into Black women’s experiences of racial microaggressions working within British politics. Norma’s research, titled ‘“Don’t touch my hair!” Exploring the racial microaggressions experienced by Black women working in British politics.’, was exhibited as a poster at the British Psychological Society’s Division of Occupational Psychology Conference, after she had been awarded a Distinction in both her research and MSc degree, as well as a Gold award by her university.
Before joining Pearn Kandola, Norma built a portfolio of clients as a freelance consultant and facilitator, educating and training people on race bias, unconscious bias, and more! She has worked as a freelance consultant, having consulted divisions of national and multinational firms such as ARUP, SHL, Surrey County Council (with Impact Black), Imagiphoria Studios, Morneau Shepell, and other organisations. She has also worked with Occupational Psychologists on reviews of assessment practices for recruitment within law firms and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Norma is on a mission to influence organisational change and make an impact on the issue of racism, micro-incivilities, and diversity and inclusion at work. She is also an author (having been published at 15 years old) and content creator, who creates ‘fun-ducational’ videos under the pseudonym Molla the Scholar, relating to both academic and creative subjects!
Norma has co-authored two, large-scale research reports in her time at Pearn Kandola, Racism At Work In The UK (2021) and Weight Discrimination At Work Report (2023).
