NFU Mutual wanted all their recruitment managers to be equipped with a full understanding of bias, how it affects their recruitment processes, and how to effectively manage it.
Solution
Pearn Kandola designed and delivered engaging two-hour workshops, which were attended by over 600 managers and leaders. The workshops raised awareness of how the recruitment process can be disrupted and negatively affected by bias and explained how leaders and recruiting managers can manage this effectively.
Impact
These workshops were so successful that they were converted into training videos for those who could not attend the original sessions and all new joiners. Additionally, as well as influencing the current recruitment processes at NFU Mutual, the workshops also motivated participants to take action to address any potential future sources of bias in other internal processes.

‘Pearn Kandola’s training has helped raise our managers’ awareness of the risks of making assumptions or allowing unconscious prejudices to influence people-related decisions’

‘Pearn Kandola have been excellent in being flexible to the needs of our business, not only in terms on the content of the sessions but also the way that Unconscious Bias sessions are delivered.’
— Matt Watson, Leadership Development Specialist
‘I wanted to feedback on Friday’s session and I have to say genuinely it was brilliant. Stephan did a great job of delivering the right mix of theory and practical that really tested the team in several ways. The infrastructure of breaking into groups, slides, quality of the session was great and he shared the content as promised immediately after. I would thoroughly recommend this to any part of our business. My team are a mix of time served, experienced L5s who can be a bit challenging at times and each of them has written to me afterwards saying how good they thought the session was excellent.’
