Making the system fair and equal
We review regulatory processes to ensure that the use of regulations and sanctions is fair and bias-free. For example, we know that regulatory bodies receive a disproportionate number of complaints about professionals from minority backgrounds. After all, the general public is also prone to biases. Our reviews focus on whether regulatory bodies redress or worsen these biases.
The techniques we use include matched sample analysis, interviews with regulators and data analysis. We can pinpoint whether any stage of a process is further exaggerating the bias in the complaints. We then use these techniques to offer solutions that can make regulatory processes fair and equal for everyone.
