Age Discrimination at Work (2024) Report Summary

Our brand new research surveyed over 1500 people, aged 18 – 51+, and was designed to explore attitudes and experiences of age discrimination in contemporary UK workplaces. The aims of our study were to:

  • Explore potential differences in attitudes and beliefs of the existence of such discrimination in the workplace between different age groups
  • Investigate whether there are group differences in recognising such discrimination at work
  • Uncover the commonality of experiences of between age groups, either directly as victims or indirectly as witnesses
  • Identify organisations’ actions against age discrimination and to promote age inclusivity in the workplace.

The report offers an insight into the impact that age discrimination has on employees of all ages and concludes with 6 key recommendations for employers from its author, Professor Binna Kandola OBE.
