With over two decades of experience in the realm of disability inclusion, Nancy Doyle has drawn inspiration from intentional recruitment programs. They are heartened to witness a shift that emphasizes disability as a source of talent rather than framing it as a patronizing public service project. Initially, they held hopes that these programs would usher in a state of “systemic inclusion,” fostering a broader spectrum of talents and diversity through the initiatives of pioneering companies and recruiters.
However, as these programs have matured, Doyle has not yet observed a significant expansion in their impact. Thus, in honour of International Women’s Day in 2020 and motivated by Professor Amanda Kirby’s conference that underscored the underrepresentation of women in neurodiversity inclusion, they found themselves prompted to pose a pertinent question: Where Have All The Girls Gone?
