Empower Your Hiring Managers With Inclusive Interviewer Training

To hire the best talent into your organisation, you need to be confident that your hiring managers can measure candidates effectively, fairly and consistently.

This isn’t only important for your hiring managers to feel confident – such as in scoring candidates – but it’s important to safeguard your reputation.

The recruitment process is the first interaction talent will have with your organisation, so every candidate – whether successful or not – should know they have been given a fair, objective and professional interview experience.

Pearn Kandola’s interviewer training ensures your hiring managers have the appropriate skills to measure and score candidates, mitigate biases and set themselves – and your organisation – up for success when conducting interviews.

Practice makes perfect

Critically, during the programme they will practice interviewing and scoring in real-world scenarios, and will leave equipped with the skills and confidence to interview accurately, effectively and fairly.

This is the difference between our evidence-based programme and off-the-shelf alternatives. Our programmes are proven to go beyond awareness raising and trigger lasting behavioral change, that you can measure.

Safeguard your reputation and recruitment process by eliminating biases and assumptions, and ensuring best practice across the board for your hiring managers.

Our inclusive interview skills training packages

Pearn Kandola’s Inclusive Interviewer Skills training centres around an engaging and interactive 3 or 4-hour (depending on your chosen package) live workshop that covers everything participants need to know about effectively interviewing, scoring and assessing candidates fairly while minimising human error.

Participants will engage in interactive exercises using real-world scenarios – and our powerful proprietary tools will crucially help them to understand their own strengths and challenge areas.

From here, they will be motivated, confident and equipped with practical strategies to interview consistently and effectively so you can be confident that the best talent will be selected to join your organisation.

All of our packages include a 3 or 4-hour workshop designed and delivered by trained business psychologists.

Our approach to inclusive assessor training

As a firm of business psychologists, our work is rooted in over 40 years of research and evidence-based practice that you can actually measure.

Our inclusive interview skills workshops focus on three core areas to deliver lasting change for more effective candidate assessment and scoring:

Insight
Awareness
Action

Insight

At the start of the programme (for all packages), participants are given access to Kandola+ DIORAMA, our proprietary online diagnostic tool, to give them personalised insights into their strengths and challenge areas.

Used by thousands of people across the globe, participants will receive comprehensive feedback on their ability to:

  • Recognise exclusive behaviours and micro-incivilities
  • Show empathy towards those experiencing exclusion
  • Take action to challenge exclusive behaviours
  • Promote feelings of belonging with colleagues

Those on the Enhanced or Ultimate programmes will also receive access to Kandola+ DRIVE, our motivation diagnostic, where they will understand exactly what drives them.

Awareness

The awareness stage centres around a highly interactive and engaging small-group workshop, where participants will be able to put their self-learning into context with real-world exercises and learn evidence-backed, proven models that they can rely on when assessing candidates.

They will learn to understand the difference between System 1 and System 2 thinking (an evidence-based model of unconscious bias) and how each plays out in the recruitment process.

Focusing particularly on how this impacts scoring and decision making, candidates will learn the ORCE framework which includes highly practical guidance on the “do’s and don’t’s” of scoring, and how to identify sources of bias.

They will uncover the key skills of interviewing through clear and interactive guidance from our business psychologist, including specific and proven techniques, such as the funnel technique, STAR and Pearn Kandola’s OPQRST model.

Action

Research shows that when people have clear insights into what they need to make change, they are more motivated to take action.

Throughout the workshop, participants will be asked to reflect on their new understanding of biases and it’s this stage of the workshop where they will leverage this personal understanding in order to take effective action.

This stage allows participants to practice applying the skills of inclusive interviewing in small group interview practice.

Please note that the tools and resources used in this phase will vary depending on your chosen package (see our packages section for more information).

For example, in the Enhanced and Ultimate programmes, the workshop is an hour longer, allowing for scoring practice to take place using a real-life scenario to increase consistency, objectivity and fairness across your cohort. Once participants have completed scoring of the candidate, our business psychologist will give real-time feedback, reviewing the scores and key points of feedback.

The Ultimate programme also includes Just In Time support materials, so that participants have easily accessible content to fall back on, refresh their learning and ensure their standards are kept up ahead of new recruitment cycles.
