Prominent Figures Urge BBC Reconsideration of Naga Munchetty Complaint

Notable black and ethnic minority personalities, including actors Lenny Henry and Adrian Lester, as well as broadcaster-journalists Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Afua Hirsch, are among the 44 signatories of an open letter calling for the BBC to reevaluate its decision to uphold a complaint against presenter Naga Munchetty.

The controversy arose on July 17 this year when BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker discussed President Donald Trump’s comments about people of color being told to “go home.” Munchetty shared her own experience of being told to “go back where I came from,” labeling such remarks as “embedded in racism.” This prompted a discussion about Trump’s remarks, during which she expressed her fury and questioned the acceptability of such language from a person in his position.
