‘Casual Racism’: Why it doesn’t exist

In the aftermath of Meghan and Harry’s ground-breaking interview with Oprah, some individuals have been quick to search for justifications and rationalizations for instances of racism.

One particularly troubling revelation from the interview was Meghan’s account of a conversation Harry had with a family member, during which concerns were raised about the potential skin tone of their unborn child. During a discussion on the Loose Women show, a white panelist named Jane Moore suggested that these comments might have been mere curiosity, similar to questioning whether the baby would inherit ginger hair. She further commented that it “could have just been a casually racist remark…”
