Why diversity remains limited in literature

We often look to individuals who share our backgrounds as sources of inspiration for our own aspirations. In the world of business, the significant underrepresentation of BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) and female leaders carries serious implications.

The lack of diversity in leadership roles can convey a discouraging message to those who dream of one day holding positions on executive boards or becoming CEOs. It might inadvertently suggest that these roles are reserved exclusively for white males.

In our formative years, we aspire to become astronauts, superheroes, kings, and queens. These aspirations are largely shaped by the stories we encounter, and the absence of diversity in those narratives conveys the same exclusionary message as the lack of diversity within corporate boardrooms
