Supportive Connections: The Role of Zoom Lunches

January 21st, 2021

When Randi Lippert relocated from Canada to London for work, she was excited about the opportunity to connect with her new co-workers. Unfortunately, her move occurred just before the first coronavirus lockdown in 2020.

“I didn’t have much in-office time to bond with my new team members before we all had to work from home,” says the 28-year-old. Fortunately, Ms. Lippert has found a way to get to know her new colleagues over lunch – or rather, “Zoom lunch.”

Her employer, the investment firm Wealthsimple, arranges for lunchboxes to be delivered to employees’ homes across London and encourages them to enjoy their meals while socializing with colleagues through video conference calls.
