Pearn Kandola’s Neurodiversity At Work Report (2024) is a comprehensive study which surveyed 600+ neurodivergent individuals employed in the UK.

It is thought that about 15 to 20 percent of the world’s population is neurodivergent, a general term which includes conditions such as Autism, ADHD: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADD: Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyscalculia, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

The research was carried out to investigate the experiences of neurodiverse individuals, as both candidates within the recruitment process and as employees within the workplace.

Through a mixture of open and closed questions, individuals were asked to draw on their current or past real-life experiences with questions covering:

  • Applying for roles
  • Chooosing to share their neurodiversity
  • Asking for reasonable adjustments
  • Feeling included at work, and whether they felt the need to mask

The report provides both top-level and in-depth insights into what employers are doing well, and where there is more work to be done.

The report closes with 5 key recommendations to employers, from co-authors Professor Binna Kandola OBE and Marianna Zajac.
