Conversations about racism have shown minimal progression.
In 2021, almost two-thirds (61%) of Black employees experienced workplace racism, yet more than half of the workforce believes that employers are not actively promoting racial equality.
The latest ‘Racism at Work’ report, derived from research conducted in 2021 by business psychology consultancy Pearn Kandola, echoes a 2018 study that delves into shifting experiences and perceptions of racism in UK workplaces. It underscores that, despite several significant global events in the past four years, such as the tragic murder of George Floyd and the subsequent widespread racial equity movement in 2020, discussions and efforts to foster racial equality in work environments have made limited headway.
