Recent research conducted by Chargifi indicates that Gen Z and Millennials are experiencing a disproportionate sense of isolation while working from home, which is negatively impacting their ability to establish and nurture workplace relationships and potentially hindering their career advancement.
A survey of 2,000 office workers in the US and UK reveals that 67% of individuals aged 18 to 34 find it more challenging to form friendships and maintain connections with colleagues since switching to remote work. Furthermore, 71% perceive their work colleagues as more distant, and 54% believe that extended remote work has caused them to grow apart from their peers.
Additionally, when asked about the prospect of permanently working remotely, this age group expressed concerns about loneliness, with 81% stating that they would feel more isolated without office interactions.
