About Jo Kandola

Dr Jo Kandola is a chartered psychologist and MCIPD professional with a proven track record of delivering impactful digital DE&I solutions. Jo is a driving force behind innovation in this space, ensuring businesses have the insights and tools they need to make real, lasting change.

Following her MSc in Occupational Psychology, Jo started her career at Pearn Kandola where she worked with clients across the public and private sector in the areas of assessment, development and diversity. She also conducted in-depth research into virtual team working and the factors that influence senior manager development.

Following her initial stint at Pearn Kandola, Jo worked in a variety of consultancy roles and founded The Bias Gym – a company aimed at combating bias within organisations.

Jo has particular expertise on the subject of gender bias and is the co-author of the critically acclaimed book on this subject – ‘The Invention of Difference: The story of gender bias at work’. Her PhD involved research looking at implicit and explicit gender attitudes and whether these are predictive of workplace gender discrimination.

Frustrated with the pace of change for marginalised groups to reap the opportunities afforded to majority group members, Jo has invested the past 6 years of her career developing a cutting-edge SaaS platform designed to embed inclusion into the fabric of organisations. The Kandola+ solutions that have emerged are underpinned by robust, evidence-based behaviour change models that go beyond raising awareness, enabling businesses to achieve measurable shifts in inclusive behaviour. The digital tools are scalable, personalised, and designed to deliver long-term impact, empowering organisations to truly embed DE&I into their operations.
