Dr. Maggie (Machteld) van den Heuvel is an Assistant Professor in Work & Organizational Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and works as a business psychologist. Her research focuses on ‘positive occupational health psychology’, i.e. building a happy and healthy workforce able to proactively cope with change and adversity. In practice, she focuses on individual, team and leadership development as well as strategic development of health & well-being in organisations.
Her areas of expertise are work engagement, burnout, adaptive performance, mindfulness and job crafting (i.e. a form of proactive work behaviour). Maggie has broad, international experience as a consultant, trainer and coach, working with a range of clients in both the private and public sector.
She qualified as a mindfulness trainer (MBCT/ MF in the Workplace), ACT trainer, and completed training in narrative coaching, NLP, gestalt and psychosynthesis therapy to further develop her skills. She is a member of the European Association of Work & Organisational Psychologists (EAWOP), the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology (EAOHP), International and the Dutch Association for Psychologists (NIP). Her research on well-being at work has been presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed (inter)national journals and media-outlets.
